Jenine Entwistle

  • Jenine is a Speech Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences in 2014. She then attended the University of South Carolina, where she completed her Master of Speech Pathology in 2016. Jenine specializes in Concentration in Auditory-Verbal Therapy. She enjoys this parent-centered approach to therapy for individuals with hearing loss, utilizing hearing aids, and/or cochlear implants. AVT builds auditory skills and promotes listening as a way of life for the development of spoken language and verbal communication. She is currently completing her final internship with Medical University of South Carolina’s Children’s Therapy Center. This experience includes a diverse caseload in both pediatric outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation settings.

During Jenine’s time at USC, she was a graduate assistant in the Speech Perception Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Daniel Fogerty. The research focus of the lab investigates how basic properties of speech contribute to speech understanding, under a variety of complex and noisy listening conditions. Her research project article was published in The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America titled: Level Considerations for Chimeric Processing: Temporal Envelope and Fine Structure Contributions to Speech Intelligibility.

Jenine shares, “I have always had a passion for working with children, especially children with hearing impairment. I truly enjoy each opportunity to collaborate and build relationships with the families of each child I treat. I believe that the parents and caregivers are the child’s primary teacher. By building understanding with a parent-therapist partnership, children make greater strides towards improvement. It is so rewarding to help children maximize their communication potential by making therapy fun and engaging! Each day is a new adventure as a Pediatric Therapist and that is something that I really enjoy.”

Jenine was drawn to Sprout Pediatrics for its family-centered focus and approach to therapy. She believes that being a part of a multi-disciplinary team, will allow her to learn from other professionals to adapt services to meet individual needs of each child. She looks forward to contributing and collaborating with this talented team!

In her free time, Jenine enjoys cooking, hiking, traveling, and spending time at the beach.
